Product Description
This elegant and spiritually vibrant Thangka depicts Green Tara, the beloved female Bodhisattva of compassion and swift protection. Known as the “Mother of Liberation,” Green Tara embodies active compassion, responding instantly to the prayers and needs of all sentient beings. She is revered as a saviour who removes fear, obstacles, and suffering, guiding practitioners toward enlightenment with grace.
At the center, Green Tara is portrayed in her characteristic royal ease posture (lalitasana), seated upon a blooming lotus throne. Her right leg extends outward, symbolizing her readiness to step into the world to aid those in need. Her radiant green form represents vitality, growth, and enlightened activity. In her left hand, she delicately holds the stem of a blue utpala lotus, signifying purity and spiritual awakening, while her right hand is extended in a gesture of generosity and protection (varada mudra). Her serene yet alert expression reflects both deep meditative awareness and compassionate responsiveness.
Surrounding the central deity are revered figures that enrich the iconographic and spiritual context. At the top center sits Amitabha Buddha, the historical Buddha, representing the ultimate state of enlightenment. At the upper right is Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), the Bodhisattva of Compassion, holding a lotus and embodying infinite mercy. At the upper left appears Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), the great tantric master, symbolizing transformative spiritual power. At the bottom left is Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, holding the flaming sword that cuts through ignorance and the sacred text of transcendent knowledge. At the bottom right stands Vajrapani, the fierce protector and embodiment of enlightened energy, surrounded by flames that burn away negativity.
The composition is rendered in rich greens, golds, and soft earth tones, creating a sense of vitality and serenity. The intricate detailing in the ornaments, textiles, and floral elements reflects exceptional craftsmanship, while the balanced symmetry invites contemplation and inner stillness. This Green Tara Thangka is not only a stunning work of sacred art but also a powerful spiritual companion; believed to offer protection, remove obstacles, and inspire fearless compassion in the heart of the practitioner.

Natural Colors in Thangka
All the colors used in the thankgas are made from natural minerals. Ground into pigments, they carry the essence of the earth. Unlike artificial colors, these natural tones shine with honesty, adding depth, life, and spiritual meaning to each canvas.
