Product Description
This luminous and deeply calming Thangka depicts Medicine Buddha (Bhaisajyaguru), the Buddha of Healing and Medicine, revered for his power to cure physical illness, purify mental afflictions, and guide beings toward ultimate well-being. His deep blue, lapis lazuli-coloured body symbolizes the vast, boundless nature of healing energy and the purity of awakened mind, radiating peace, balance, and restorative power throughout the composition.
At the center, Medicine Buddha sits in serene meditation upon a lotus throne, holding a healing bowl filled with nectar in his left hand, while his right hand extends in a gesture of giving and healing (varada mudra), often associated with offering medicinal remedies. His tranquil expression reflects perfect compassionate presence, embodying the union of wisdom and healing. The richly detailed robes and radiant halo surrounding him emphasize his enlightened nature and the sacredness of his healing vows.
Surrounding the central figure is a harmonious assembly of enlightened Buddhas forming the sacred healing mandala. He is flanked by Shakyamuni Buddha (yellow) on the upper left and Amitabha Buddha (red) on the upper right, symbolizing the foundation of infinite compassion. At the lower left is Vairocana Buddha (white), embodying the ultimate truth of reality, while at the lower right appears Amoghasiddhi (green), representing all-accomplishing wisdom. Together, they complete the presence of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, each expressing a perfected aspect of awakened awareness.
The background unfolds in a radiant field of deep blue, adorned with floating clouds and blossoming flowers, evoking a celestial realm of 24k gold purity. At the base, traditional offerings are arranged, symbolizing devotion and the aspiration for health and longevity. This Medicine Buddha Thangka is not only a visually stunning masterpiece but also a powerful spiritual support, believed to bring healing, protection from illness, and inner peace to all who contemplate it.
