Product Description

This stunning Paubha-style Thangka depicts Zambhala (Kubera), the benevolent guardian and the supreme deity of wealth, prosperity, and spiritual richness. Unlike purely worldly gods of fortune, Zambhala is a Bodhisattva who provides practitioners with the material resources necessary to focus on their spiritual path without the distraction of poverty or hardship. His presence is a powerful invocation for both outer success and the "inner wealth" of generosity, compassion, and virtue.

The composition follows the traditional Newar Paubha aesthetic, centered on a powerful, pot-bellied figure seated in a posture of royal ease within a magnificent golden architectural shrine. In his right hand, he holds a Bijapuraka (citron) fruit, symbolizing fertility and the seeds of potential. His left hand holds his most iconic attribute: a jewel-spitting mongoose (Neuly), which represents his ability to command the treasures of the earth and distribute them to the deserving. He is framed by an incredibly ornate Torana archway featuring mythical protectors, set against a dramatic landscape where a moonlit sky meets a sun-drenched horizon over jagged mountain peaks.

This masterpiece is distinguished by its sophisticated use of traditional mineral pigments, which gives the architectural elements a radiant, three-dimensional depth. The contrast between the dark, atmospheric background and the shimmering gold of the shrine creates a "sacred glow" that draws the viewer into a state of abundance and gratitude. Whether as a devotional focal point or a high-value collector's piece, this Zambhala Thangka serves as a timeless beacon of prosperity and the transformative power of a generous spirit.

Natural Colors in Thangka

All the colors used in the thankgas are made from natural minerals. Ground into pigments, they carry the essence of the earth. Unlike artificial colors, these natural tones shine with honesty, adding depth, life, and spiritual meaning to each canvas.
